Africa-Press – South-Africa. Parliament said it can’t offer extra security to African National Congress (ANC)-linked businessman Brown Mogotsi before his appearance before the ad hoc committee investigating police corruption.
Mogotsi had asked the committee about beefed-up security for him and his family as he prepares to appear before the ad hoc committee to answer to allegations that he tried to influence operations through his political connections.
Both Mogotsi and Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala, who is behind bars, have written letters to Parliament listing their demands, from security and not wanting a police escort.
The ad hoc committee investigating police corruption met on Monday to discuss its programme and a further extension.
Mogotsi, the North West businessman who’s linked to alleged police corruption and interference, is expected to take the stand later in November.
But Mogotsi has concerns about security for him and hisfamily.

This comes after gunmen opened fire on his car in Vosloorus last week.
Ad hoc committee chairperson Soviet Lekganyane said Mogotsi raised the matter in a letter to the committee.
“Then we had to get our legal team to respond to his letter and say Parliament can only provide transport and accommodation services. The issues of security and any other matter lie outside of the services we can provide as Parliament.”
Lekganyane said Matlala also wrote a letter.
“He says he doesn’t want to be transported by the police, so on and so forth.”
The committee will meet with Speaker Thoko Didiza on Wednesday before finalising its witness programme.
