Africa-Press – South-Africa. Suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner, Shadrack Sibiya, allegedly instructed criminally accused tender tycoon, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala – to open a false case of theft against members of the Political Killings Task Team (PKTT).
This is according to Crime Intelligence boss, Dumisani Khumalo, who is currently testifying before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry on Wednesday.
Khumalo claims he met with former Police Minister Bheki Cele last year who informed him that Matlala admitted to opening a case of theft against Khumalo and the PKTT, alleging police stole Rolex watches and laptops during a raid at his home last year.
He said the case wasn’t added to the court roll because it wasn’t seen as urgent, and later the charges were withdrawn.
“I had met with the former Minister of Police, General (Bheki) Cele, who informed me that he had been approached Mr Matlala, informing him that Lt-Gen Sibiya, advised him – Mr Matlala – to open a false case against myself and my members, that we had stolen the watches and a MacBook.”
