Africa-Press – South-Africa. Team South Africa dominated this weekend at the Botswana International Badminton Series, bringing home three gold medals.

Scholtz Secures Women’s Singles Gold

In the women’s singles, Johanita Scholtz battled against her Indian opponent. She won the first set 21-15, continuing that momentum to take down her opponent in the second set 21-16, thereby securing a gold medal for South Africa.

Women’s Doubles Team Triumphs Over Maldivian Rivals

In the women’s doubles, Scholtz and her partner, Amy Ackerman, faced the same Maldivian pair, Fathimath Nabaha and Aminath Nabeeha, whom they had played against in the final of last week’s Zambia International Badminton Series.

The Maldivians came out strong, claiming the first set 21-19. However, the South African duo turned the game around, winning the second set with ease 21-15 and dominating the third set 21-15 to claim another gold for South Africa and secure another victory over their Maldivian rivals.

All-South African Mixed Doubles Final

The final match was an all-South African mixed doubles final. Amy Ackerman and Robert Summers faced off against Caden Kakora and Johanita Scholtz.

The reigning South African champions, Ackerman and Summers, won the first set 21-10. Scholtz and Kakora refused to give up and responded by winning the second set 21-16. However, Ackerman and Summers regained their form in the final set, winning it 21-13 to take home the gold medal in mixed doubles.
