NASIR, Upper Nile State (Eye Radio) – Representatives of key national NGOs operating in Nasir County assured Governor Jacob Dollar Ruot on Sunday that they would immediately re-establish their full operational presence in Nasir Town, following the 48-hour ultimatum issued on Saturday.
This major commitment was made during a follow-up meeting with the Governor, convened immediately after the state’s 48-hour directive.
Governor Ruot reiterated his appreciation for the ongoing efforts by the NGOs to support vulnerable communities but emphasized that the recent directive was necessary to ensure proximity, collaboration, and direct engagement with local authorities and beneficiaries.
“Nasir Town is secure, stable, and ready to host full NGO operations,” Governor Ruot affirmed. “We encourage all organizations to return their offices to Nasir so that services can be better coordinated and delivered more efficiently to those in need.”
He reaffirmed the State Government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe and enabling environment for all humanitarian activities.
Governor Ruot pledged full administrative support, improved logistical access, and strengthened security cooperation to facilitate a smooth and timely return for all organizations.
The NGO delegation, including representatives wearing jackets bearing logos of UNICEF, IRC, Save the Children, UNHCR, and Nile Hope, welcomed the Governor’s call to action, acknowledging the benefits of operating from the county headquarters.
They expressed a willingness to explore immediate steps toward re-establishing their presence in Nasir Town, noting that such a move would significantly enhance communication, reduce response delays, and deepen engagement with the affected communities.
