Africa-Press – South-Sudan. NASIR TOWN, Upper Nile State (Eye Radio) – The Commander of the South Sudan People’s Defence Forces (SSPDF) in Nasir Town, Major General James Wuor Gatluak, has appealed to youth and community leaders in Nasir County to return to their homes with their personal weapons and ensure they are not associated with SPLA-IO forces.
Major General Wuor made this statement on Saturday, December 6, while addressing hundreds of residents in Nasir Town during the Governor’s official visit.
SSDPF commander issued a direct and stringent ultimatum to local youth and community chiefs regarding their affiliation with opposition forces during a public address focused on securing the ongoing peace process
Maj. Gen. Wuor publicly challenged the community to demonstrate their commitment to stability, stating: “I am appealing to youth and chiefs, if I may ask you, have you accepted peace? Please let me see your hands if you accepted peace, and if you mean it…”
The commander then issued a clear order for immediate action: “…from tomorrow, return to your home, and come with your gun that you are using to protect your cattle from wild animals, and it has nothing to do with the government.”
The address concluded with a firm declaration that the SSPDF will not tolerate ambiguity regarding military loyalties. Maj. Gen. Wuor warned that any individual failing to comply would be considered an active hostile combatant.
“Return home and don’t stay with those SPLA-IO, because we may consider you as part of the SPLA-IO forces since we are still at war with them,” the Commander stated, underscoring the serious implications for any youth found in association with the opposition.
