Africa-Press – Tanzania. MEMBERS of the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania have called on the government to increase investment in science education, emphasizing that the move is essential to ensure the country produces enough experts to drive national economic development.

Contributing to the budget debate of the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology in Dodoma, the lawmakers highlighted that Tanzania still faces a significant shortage of professionals in the fields of science and technology. They stressed that greater investment in these areas is vital for the country to keep pace with global technological advancements.

The MPs also underscored the importance of improving the quality of science and vocational education by equipping students with practical skills that will enable them to actively participate in the rapidly growing Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector.

Additionally, they urged the government to enhance the availability of science textbooks in primary and secondary schools to help students gain a deeper understanding of science subjects and make informed decisions about their future careers.
