Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has reiterated the importance of dialogue as the most effective way to resolve conflicts across Africa, rather than resorting to the use of arms.

President Samia made the remarks today during a ceremony at the State House in Dar es Salaam, where she was awarded a prestigious honor by the International Military Sports Council (CISM).

In her speech, President Samia highlighted Africa’s critical agenda of “Silence the Gun”, which seeks to end the rampant use of firearms and promote peace through alternative methods such as dialogue and community cooperation.

“Most importantly, as you all know, Africa has its own agenda Silence the Gunwhich is about silencing the reckless gunfire. This platform contributes to that effort. When Chiefs of Defense Forces (CDFs) come together through sports, they build friendships,” President Samia said.

She also described CISM as an important platform that unites militaries from various nations through sports, emphasizing the values of friendship, trust, and respectful competition.

“When that friendship exists, it becomes easier to convince one another to stop using weapons. Solving problems through dialogue brings innovation—it’s not always about using force,” she added.

Through her address, President Samia delivered a strong message to military and political leaders across Africa, urging them to invest more in communication and dialogue as sustainable approaches to fostering peace and unity.

The honor she received from CISM serves as recognition of her significant contribution to promoting international cooperation and her continued efforts to strengthen peace through non-violent means.
