THE Vice Chairman of Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) Mainland, Stephen Wasira, said the decision to nominate the CCM Presidential candidate, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, is due to her exceptional ability demonstrated in successfully leading the country over the past four and a half years.
He made the statement when speaking to members of the party in Njombe Region, noting that she has earned the position and it is not given to her as a gift.
Elaborating, Mr Wasira noted that, despite Dr Samia taking over the country under challenging circumstances, she has skillfully managed to lead and bring about significant development during her tenure.
“We are not giving her a gift but rather we are extending her term because she has shown outstanding performance. We are giving the work to someone capable of executing it with skill and expertise,” he said.
He added, “This position is like a license that was granted to us to lead Tanzania for five years from 2020, and on October 29, 2025, we will ask Tanzanians to ‘renew’ our license. One key requirement for renewing this license is having a good driver, so there is no reason to put in a new driver who could cause problems,” he insisted.
Moreover, he said that President Samia Suluhu Hassan has shown exceptional efficiency in her work over the past five years, which is why she deserves to be elected again in the upcoming General Election on October 29.
