KAZE VOWS NOT TO RETREAT FOR TITLE

AfricaPress-Tanzania: AFTER recording his sixth draw in the Premier League, Young Africans Head Coach Cedric Kaze said there is no retreat in their quest for the championship this season.

Yanga were held to a 1-1 draw against Mbeya City at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya over the weekend to earn one point which drove them to 45 points at the summit of the log.

Substitute Deus Kaseke scored a controversial goal for the visitors late in the second half as it sparked hot debate by pundits as to whether or not the ball had passed the goal line before it was cleared to safety by City defender.

Soon after conceding, the hosts shifted to top gear as they stormed to the goal area of Yanga in big numbers, a situation which led them to win a spot kick within three minutes of the added time. Pastory Athanas stepped in and expertly converted the spot kick to make the high intensity match end in balance, an outcome which favoured Mbeya City as they moved one step up from the base of the table.

“There are many things which are done to discourage us but what I can say is that we are going back to thoroughly prepare for our next match against Kagera Sugar.

“It should be known that teams invest a lot, they do bring foreign players and give them many things but what I can see is that there are some levels which fail to execute well their duties so as to make the league interesting,” said Kaze.

He then questioned the authenticity of the penalty won by the hosts saying only the referee saw it while at the same time revealing that his side had a chance to kill the game in the first half from many chances they squandered.

His colleague for Mbeya City Mathias Lule thanked his charges for playing good football and was content with the grabbed one point from the tough encounter.

“Getting one point from a team like Yanga is something to cherish about even though our target was to bag all three points from the home ground,” he said.

Moreover, Lule disclosed that prior to the game, they had a full analysis on how Yanga plays that is why they were able to contain them on the day.

The outcome saw Mbeya City occupying 17th slot on the table with 15 points, similar to Mwadui FC who lost 2-1 on the same day to Biashara United in an early kickoff duel but the latter are now pegged at the bottom of the log.
