AfricaPress-Tanzania: YOUNG Africans have disclosed that three coaches have been shortlisted from the long list of trainers who are contesting for the hot seat at the club.
After splitting with then Head Coach Cedric Kaze, Yanga have been busy searching for his successor who is slated to take charge of the team from the start of next season.
For the time being, the incumbent caretaker coach Juma Mwambusi has been tasked to propel the team throughout the remainder of the season hence, he has a heavy load to carry on his shoulders.
But speaking recently in Dar es Salaam, the club’s Vice Chairman of the Registration Committee Hersi Said narrated that the procedures to snatch a new coach are at final stages.
“For now, we want to finalise the whole issue so that the new coach can come early to start assessing the team in terms of where improvements are needed prior to the next season. “Mwambusi will continue to be with the team until the end of the campaign that is why we want the incoming coach to arrive as fast as possible to begin analysing the whole squad,” he said.
Moreover, Hersi pointed out that they will continue to live the legacy of former president John Magufuli by making sure that they amicably achieve club transformation.
“He (Magufuli) wanted clubs in the country to embrace modern ways of running football and leave behind the old means that is why we are serious about driving this club to transform. “By achieving transformation, it will help to make our clubs stable and thereafter, we can have competitive squad capable to attain more success in both domestic and international competitions,” he said.
As the Mainland Premier League fixtures expect to resume early next month after paving way to FIFA International break, Yanga stay glued at the top of the table with 50 points after 23 games.
Defending champions Simba remain second on the pile with 46 points from 20 encounters as they fight to retain the league title for the fourth consecutive time.
On third slot are Azam who have gathered 44 points from 24 matches while Biashara United are fourth on the log with 39 points from 23 outings.
Sitting on the fifth place are KMC who have bagged 35 points in 24 appearances and they complete the top four pack.
