Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE government has come up with a new system to ease loan applications for higher education students and widen the scope of the coverage for the academic year 2022/23.
In the coming academic year, the government has allocated a total of 573bn/- to be disbursed among 205,500 students as loans and scholarships under the Higher Education Students’ Loans Board (HESLB).
The Minister for Education, Science and Technology Prof Adolf Mkenda said on Tuesday that 570bn/- has been allocated to loan 205,000 higher education students and the remaining 3bn/- being scholarships for 500 students.
He said the scholarships are for students who performed well in their form six examinations on science subjects and they must have admission in science, engineering and medical studies.
“It is important for applicants to read well and familiarize themselves with the guidelines and requirements before having the forms filled well for further process,” said Prof Mkenda during an event to inaugurate loan applications guidelines for the academic year 2022/2023.
