Africa-Press – Tanzania. CCM presidential running mate, Ambassador Emmanuel Nchimbi, has reaffirmed the party’s commitment to advancing people’s welfare and accelerating national development.

Addressing a public rally in Kazegunga, Kigoma North Constituency, on Sunday, Amb Nchimbi said CCM leaders are guided by principles of service and integrity rather than self-interest.

“Today, together with my colleagues, we are asking for your votes for the next five years after the tremendous progress achieved in the past term. President Samia Suluhu Hassan and the CCM-led government have implemented unprecedented reforms and development projects in our country’s history,” he said.

Amb Nchimbi said CCM has proven to Tanzanians and the international community its ability to deliver tangible development results.

“There are countries where leaders neglect essential sectors such as health, education, energy and infrastructure. But CCM has shown that citizens’ concerns are our top priority,” he said.

He commended President Samia for her steadfast leadership in upholding the party’s founding principles, ensuring CCM remains stable, accountable and focused on serving Tanzanians with integrity.

According to Amb Nchimbi, CCM’s membership has grown significantly under President Samia’s leadership, now surpassing 13.5 million members with nearly 800,000 grassroots representatives and committees across the country.

“This leadership structure from top to bottom is unmatched anywhere in East or Central Africa. It reflects the party’s strength, unity and organisation,” he emphasised.

Amb Nchimbi said CCM continues to stand with ordinary citizens, with service to the people remaining the party’s foremost duty. Explaining the achievements under President Samia’s administration, he highlighted remarkable progress in education, health, water, infrastructure and energy within just four and a half years.

He cited the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) as one of the flagship projects, with ongoing construction through the Tabora and Kigoma regions and a planned seventh phase connecting Uvinza to Msimbati.

He also mentioned the rehabilitation of the historic MV Liemba and the signing of a contract for a new, modern ship with a 3,500-tonne capacity.

Amb Nchimbi noted that such initiatives have contributed to rapid economic growth and expansion of the tourism sector, particularly in Gombe, Mahale and Lake Tanganyika National Parks, which continue to attract more international visitors.

On agriculture, he said food production has increased from 17 million to 22 million tonnes, fulfilling Mwalimu Julius Nyerere’s vision that “nothing demeans a person more than hunger.” He further announced that Kigoma’s inclusion in the national grid follows the country’s power generation rising from 1,200 megawatts to 3,278 megawatts in just four and a half years.

“Now, all villages have been connected to electricity, with only a few remaining sub-villages to be finalised,” he said.

Amb Nchimbi also outlined key projects to be implemented in Kigoma North over the next five years, including the construction of four new health centres, seven dispensaries and 12 staff houses. In education, he pledged the establishment of five new primary schools and three secondary schools, as well as 75 classrooms, 21 teachers’ houses, 25 dormitories and 11 science laboratories.

He added that the agriculture sector will be strengthened through four irrigation schemes, provision of subsidies, quality seeds and pesticides and closer collaboration with crop boards to ensure competitive prices.

In the livestock sector, plans are underway to build two new dipping facilities, four modern abattoirs and strengthen extension services to promote modern livestock keeping.

“We will also build a new market for palm oil and enhance trade relations with neighbouring countries, including Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia, to secure reliable markets for our produce,” he added.

For his part, Kigoma North parliamentary candidate Peter Serukamba thanked President Samia for her remarkable contributions to the constituency, including empowering over 992 groups of women, youths and persons with disabilities, who have collectively benefited from over 9bn/- in loans in the past four and a half years.

Mr Serukamba hailed Amb Nchimbi’s selection as CCM’s running mate, describing him as a patriotic and visionary leader who understands both the party’s values and the region’s needs.

“Amb Nchimbi is one of our own, a son of Kigoma who studied and grew up here. He knows our challenges and opportunities better than anyone else. Under this new five-year manifesto, all pending projects will be completed,” Serukamba said.
