Court to rule on Mpina filed complaints on September 8

Africa-Press – Tanzania. Monday, September 8, 2025, is the date when the complaints filed by the ACT-Wazalendo party’s presidential candidate, Luhaga Mpina, challenging the Electoral Commission’s decision to block the resubmission of nomination forms, will be heard again.

However, after both parties presented their arguments, the court raised objections and directed that the main case be heard first in writing and expeditiously.

The court also ordered the government to prepare its responses, while both parties were instructed to meet again on Monday at 8:00 AM in the Dodoma Main Halls to review the cases and schedule a date for the ruling.

The party’s presidential candidate, Luhaga Mpina, said the points they submitted are strong and he believes they will win. He explained that the Electoral Commission issued rules outlining the procedure for resubmitting forms, but there is no clause preventing a candidate from doing so. According to him, this action is unprecedented in the country and indicates serious unfairness.

Mpina urged the party’s members of parliament and councilors to continue campaigning without fear, emphasizing that every challenge will be resolved. Additionally, he said their party will emerge victorious with more than 70percent of the votes.

“I request the court to quickly remove this obstacle so I can continue with the final campaign against CCM, both on the podium and in the elections,” Mpina said.
