Africa-Press – Tanzania. The community has been urged to ensure children are raised on the foundations of love, peace, hard work, and to become contributors toward strengthening peace and social cohesion in the nation.
This call was made by Kinondoni District Commissioner Saad Mtambule during a religious gathering held in Dar es Salaam to discuss peace, societal well-being, and national development.
“Let us ask ourselves: how many times per week or per month do we, as parents and children, sit together reading our religious books and reflecting on their teachings?” he said, adding, “How often do we sit with our youth to discuss issues affecting them, the nation, and our families—issues concerning strengthening love, peace, hard work, and contributing to our country?”
He emphasized that if society, parents, and guardians consistently engage in these practices, peace and love will flourish, while incidents of corruption and crime will decrease. He further explained the importance of families spending time together—discussing, reading, and reflecting on sacred texts—as a means to reinforce peace, love, and active contributions toward solving the country’s social and political challenges.
In Tanzania, the upbringing of children has long been viewed as a communal responsibility, where families and communities play a crucial role in shaping future generations. The emphasis on love, peace, and hard work reflects traditional values that aim to strengthen societal bonds and promote national unity.
Historically, various leaders and community figures have advocated for the importance of nurturing children in a supportive environment, recognizing that the values instilled during childhood can significantly impact societal stability and development. This call for better child upbringing aligns with ongoing efforts to address social challenges and enhance community well-being.
