Africa-Press – Tanzania. Diplomacy students from the United Arab Emirates have conducted a study visit at the Dr Salim Ahmed Salim Centre for Foreign Relations in Dar es Salaam, a visit aimed at high-level academic and political engagement to strengthen bilateral cooperation.
The Ministry for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation noted that the follow-up visit and institutional knowledge-exchange initiative aimed to deepen collaboration between the UAE delegation and their counterparts in Tanzania and lay the groundwork for joint research and capacity-building programs.
The delegation led by Dr N. Janardhan began their program at the Economic and Social Research Foundation (ESRF) in Kinondoni, where they discussed with the Executive Director, Fortunata Songora Makene, focused on global economic trends, regional growth in Africa and the Middle East, and policy frameworks needed to drive sustainable development.
Both sides emphasized the importance of evidence-based research in shaping effective economic management strategies.
Other key sectors, such as oil, gas, and renewable energy, featured at their discussion, alongside climate-related policy frameworks for governments and private institutions.
“The objective was clear: to exchange ideas that could accelerate economic development while addressing global climate realities and investment priorities,” the ministry stated.
Moreover, the ministry said that the delegation later proceeded to the Centre for Foreign Relations (CFR), named after Salim Ahmed Salim, where the group engaged directly with Tanzanian diplomacy students during a scheduled lecture.
During the discussions, the UAE delegation outlined their country’s evolving diplomatic posture and its growing cooperation with Tanzania. Topics included economic diplomacy, diversification, and the balance between modernization and Western influence, stressing development rooted in national identity rather than imitation.
