Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA, and Somalia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the immigration management sector.

The agreement was signed between Tanzania’s Minister for Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, and Somalia’s Minister of Internal Security, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismai,l in Dar es Salaam.

Information from the Home Affairs ministry noted that the of the agreement is to waive visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and service passports while strengthening immigration cooperation between Tanzania and Somalia.

Speaking after the signing ceremony, Minister Katambi noted that Tanzania will continue strengthening cooperation with countries in the East African Community to ensure peace and security across the East African region.

He further acknowledged the existing cooperation between Tanzania and Somalia, including collaboration on citizen security matters and prisoner transfers.
