Africa-Press – Tanzania. DAR ES SALAAM’S Johari Rotana, a five-star hotel, has reopened after two years of closure due to Covid-19 global pandemic which hit the hospitality industry severely.
The hotel was reopened on Wednesday for business thanks to a new visitors’ influx to the country after easing of coronavirus contagion.
The Hotel General Manager, Joerg Potreck, said the influx of tourists into the country after worldwide exposure has meant that the hospitality industry must also strategize to accommodate them.
“We closed down our business for two years and opened on 1st June, 2022 and this time we’re fully prepared to accommodate our visitors with world-class service once they land in Tanzania, before going to other tourists’ destinations.” Mr Potreck further said despite the hotel industry bearing the brunt of Covid 19, they are fully strategized to spring back in life and accommodate tourists, be they local or foreigners who would be visiting the country and require their service.
“Mama [President Samia Suluhu Hassan] has done her part and it is upon us to support her work by modernizing our services to keep pace with the requirements of our would-be visitors.”
“We are still enthralled with her work and would officially announce that our hotel just like others is ready to serve her interest…with my team,” Mr Potreck pointed out.
The 15 floor hotel, at Dar es Salaam central business district (CBD), has 253 spacious rooms, suites, and serviced apartments. The hotel also boasts of vast spacious meeting and conference facilities in Tanzania, a 900-square-meter ballroom with a 6.5-meter ceiling height that can also be divided into three smaller venues, depending on a client’s desire.
