Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzanian government has designated special areas within the Government City in Dodoma for the construction of offices and residences for ambassadors of various countries. Diplomats have been urged to relay this information to their respective governments to begin preparations for construction.
This announcement was made by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, during a special meeting of the Diplomatic Community in Tanzania. The meeting, held in Dodoma, was organized by the Office of the Regional Commissioner of Dodoma.
Minister Kombo explained that since the official announcement in 1973 to relocate the country’s capital to Dodoma, the government has been committed to developing the city with modern infrastructure and essential public services. He noted that these efforts are now bearing fruit, with Dodoma ready to accommodate people of all professions, including diplomats and international investors.
He further highlighted that numerous investment opportunities have emerged as a result of the city’s development. The Minister called on ambassadors to encourage investors from their home countries to come and take part in Dodoma’s growth. He also urged the Office of the Dodoma Regional Commissioner to regularly provide progress updates to stakeholders, helping them make informed decisions regarding the city.
Minister Kombo proposed that this type of meeting be held annually, describing it as a valuable platform for sharing development updates and strengthening cooperation between Tanzania and other nations.
On her part, the Dodoma Regional Commissioner, Rosemary Senyamule, who hosted the meeting, stated that the region has made significant progress in various sectors. She mentioned achievements in health, education, water, electricity, security, transport, and entertainment, emphasizing that services available in Dodoma are of international standards.
The meeting was held under the theme: “Dodoma is Ready: Take Dodoma to the World and Bring the World to Dodoma.”
