Africa-Press – Tanzania. Mozambique’s Minister of National Defence, Cristóvão Artur Chume, on Thursday (10-04) held a working meeting with his counterpart from the United Republic of Tanzania, Stagomena Tax, during which they reviewed the historic relations of bilateral cooperation in the defence field.
On the occasion, Minister Chume recalled the bonds of brotherhood that date back to the times of the armed struggle for national liberation, and also thanked Tanzania for the support it has been providing to Mozambique in the fight against terrorism in Cabo Delgado province.
In turn, Minister Stergomena Lawrence Tax reaffirmed the historical ties established by the founding fathers of the two nations and assured continued support in the fight against terrorism, as well as providing an opportunity for Mozambican officers to continue to be trained in the high command component, in addition to the formation of combat units.
The two neighbouring countries currently cooperate in, among other areas, the training of officers, as well as in the consolidation of the Civic Service of Mozambique, in which Tanzania has long experience.
