Africa-Press – Tanzania. ZANZIBAR President Dr Hussein Mwinyi is set to inaugurate the newly established Presidential Delivery Bureau (PDB) today at the Zanzibar State House.

Globally, PDB’s are established to ensure that government policies and projects are implemented by working hand in hand with its departments, frontline agencies and independent contractors.

A statement issued on Thursday by the Press Secretary of the Zanzibar State House noted that the Zanzibar Minister of State in the President’s Office (State House Affairs), Mr Jamal Kassim Ali revealed this during the launch of a capacity building training for heads and executives of various ministries and institutions.

“The bureau will be responsible for the supervision of all issues with regard to implementation of key priority areas of the government plans and strategies,” said Mr Ali.

As such, the training aimed to enlighten the officials with the objectives, roles and on how the body will carry out its responsibilities.

PDB Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Josephine Kimaro noted that the implementation of government priority projects focuses on three main sectors including economy, blue economy, tourism, infrastructure and social development.

Dr Kimaro indicated that the execution of strategic projects by ministries was to a large extent aligned with government strategies and the Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) election manifesto.

Elaborating, she expressed the importance of embarking on close and strong collaboration in implementation of the priorities in the ministries taking into account that some of the projects are multi-sectorial.

Besides, the CEO extended recognition to the Tony Blair Foundation, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Institute for Global Change (TBI) for their readiness and making possible the establishment of the bureau in attaining set goals.

She urged all stakeholders, ministries and public institutions and Development Partners to speak the same language in effectively executing the priorities set by the government.

For her part, Zanzibar’s Chief Secretary Eng Zena Ahmed Said viewed that the bureau’s establishment will act as a catalyst for the executives to be aware of its existence, and deliver their responsibilities on time and effectively.

The Chief Secretary said will promote the execution of various project priorities of the government in fulfilling the objectives.

“The bureau was not established to replace the government responsibilities…the government will continue implementing its roles,” she said.
