Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzanian government continues to maintain economic diplomacy with the European countries, using it as a key tool in attracting foreign investments, stimulating economic growth, and ensure sustainable development for the benefit of all Tanzanian citizens.
Today, the Minister of State in the President’s Office for Planning and Investment, Professor Kitila Mkumbo, is in London to begin an official working visit to the United Kingdom. The tour, which started yesterday, January 22 to 27, 2026, aims to strengthen economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Tanzania and the United Kingdom.
Upon arrival, Prof. Mkumbo held a working meeting at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania in London, where he met with TanzaniaN High Commissioner r to the United Kingdom, Mr Mbelwa Kairuki.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues related to enhancing economic relations, improving the investment climate, and exploring available opportunities for UK investors in Tanzania.
The visit marks the commencement of a series of meetings and engagements, including discussions with investors, financial institutions, multinational companies, and development partners. The main objective is to promote investment opportunities in Tanzania and advance economic diplomacy.
During the visit, Prof. Mkumbo is accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Planning and Investment, Dr Tausi Kida, as well as the Director General of the Tanzania Investment and Special Economic Zones Authority (TISEZA), Mr Gilead Teri.
