Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzanian government will continue to prioritize professional expertise, scientific advice, and research in the development of the livestock and fisheries sectors in the country, the Minister for Livestock and Fisheries, Dr Bashiru Ally, announced today, January 23, 2026.

Dr Bashiru made the remarks during an official working visit to Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) in Morogoro Region. The visit forms part of the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries’ efforts to strengthen cooperation with academic and research institutions, including establishing partnership agreements between the ministry and the university.

While addressing students and observing various academic and research activities being conducted at the institution, Minister Bashiru said that the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, has directed that the livestock and fisheries sectors be developed based on professional expertise, research, and scientific guidance.

He further explained that the President’s directives, together with the 25-Year National Development Vision, call for a shift away from traditional livestock keeping towards modern, productive, efficient, and technology-driven livestock farming.
