Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzanian government has invested a total of 131bn/- for purchasing modern technology to simplify and speed up the production of national identity cards.
Minister for Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, announced this during his visit to the National Identification Authority (NIDA) headquarters in Dar es Salaam today, February 13, 2026.
According to the minister, the government aims to upgrade systems and improve efficiency in issuing national IDs to Tanzanian citizens.
During the visit, the minister inspected the entire process of producing and distributing national ID cards to citizens.
Furthermore, Minister Katambi commended NIDA for paying a dividend of 38bn/- to the central government, saying it demonstrates strong management and the productivity of the investment made.
