Tanzania Renews Efforts for ATCL Global Market Success

Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Deputy Minister for Transport, David Kihenzile, has outlined government strategies to enable Air Tanzania Company Limited (ATCL) capture a larger share of the international aviation and air transport market.

Kihenzile made the remarks today, January 27, 2026, during the Second Session of the 13th Parliament, while responding to questions in Parliament in Dodoma.

He said that among the key strategies is the Government’s plan to increase the number of ATCL aircraft and expand its international network to seven destinations, a move expected to allow the airline to operate more international flights.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister said the Government plans to lease additional aircraft to enhance ATCL’s efficiency and competitiveness in the global aviation market. The move is intended to enable the national carrier to broaden its route network, access global markets, and compete with major international airlines.

He noted that the implementation of these strategies reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening the aviation sector and increasing its contribution to the national economy.
