Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzanian government is seeking a reliable source of funding to upgrade the Ipole–Rungwa road to tarmac standard to improve connectivity between the regions of Mbeya, Tabora, and Singida.
The Deputy Minister for Works, Engineer Godfrey Kasekenya, announced this to parliamentarians in Dodoma on Monday when responding to a question from Sikonge MP, Amos Maganga, who had asked about the government’s plans for the construction of the Ipole–Rungwa road.
In his answer, the minister said that the road has already been designed and is among the major routes yet to be upgraded to tarmac standard, prompting the government to actively seek appropriate funding for its construction.
“This road has already undergone design and is one of the major roads that has not yet been built to tarmac standard. As we speak, the government is looking for a suitable source of funding to construct the road from Ipole to Rungwa and onward from Rungwa to Singida,” said the Deputy Minister.
He added that construction has already begun on a section of the road from Rungwa to Makongorosi, a move aimed at strengthening tarmac road connectivity between Tabora, Singida and Mbeya regions.
