Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Tanzanian government has outlined measures aimed at ensuring women entrepreneurs play a central role in the implementation of the National Development Vision 2050, with a focus on building a strong, inclusive, and competitive economy.
Deputy Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups, Maryprisca Mahundi, revealed this in the parliament today, February 2, 2026, in Dodoma, noting that the strategy seeks to position women entrepreneurs as key drivers of economic growth and social development under the Vision 2050 framework.
According to the minister, the measures are aimed at addressing long-standing barriers faced by women, particularly limited access to capital and markets, to boost productivity and improve the competitiveness of women-led businesses.
The minister was responding to a question from Special Seats MP Janeth Mahawanga, who sought to know the government’s plans to directly involve women entrepreneurs in implementing the long-term national development blueprint.
Additionally, the deputy minister said the government has put in place a range of targeted interventions designed to enable women entrepreneurs to participate meaningfully in national development through economic activities.
Mahundi said the government is also implementing specific empowerment programmes for both women and men, including economic empowerment platforms, entrepreneurship training, technology adoption, and support for small and medium-sized industries.
She said the initiatives are expected to support the growth of women-owned businesses, expand employment opportunities, and strengthen their contribution to the national economy as the country works towards achieving the goals of Vision 2050.
