Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA is set to transform its tourism landscape with the development of a world-class international golf course on the edge of the Serengeti National Park, a project aimed at blending sports, luxury tourism and wildlife conservation.

Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dr Ashatu Kijaji revealed this on Wednesday while commending President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s visionary leadership in spearheading the ambitious project, saying it will redefine Tanzania’s position in global tourism.

Elaborating, the minister said that the growing global trend of golf tourism is now becoming a reality in Tanzania, with the Serengeti project expected to open a new chapter for the iconic park.

“The growing global concept of Golf Tourism is now a reality in Tanzania. This project will open a new chapter for Serengeti and position it as a symbol of sports and tourism excellence,” she said.

The Serengeti, already world-famous for the Great Wildebeest Migration, is now expanding its appeal by introducing a rare combination of wildlife experiences and sporting excellence, strengthening Tanzania’s presence on the global golf tourism map.

TANAPA Conservation Commissioner Musa Nassoro Kuji said the course will offer a unique experience where golfers will play in close proximity to wildlife, making it one of the most distinctive sporting destinations in the world.

Project Consultant Dr Richard Matolo highlighted the economic benefits, noting that the development is expected to significantly increase tourism revenues while offering visitors an unmatched natural setting.

District Commissioner Angelina Marco Lubela said the project will also generate employment opportunities and open new economic pathways for local youth.

The golf course, designed as an 18-hole, Par 72 layout stretching 7.065 kilometres, is among the longest in Africa and is expected to become a flagship destination for luxury and eco-tourism.

Officials say the Serengeti National Park Golf Course represents a bold statement of innovation, where conservation meets sport and luxury, positioning Tanzania as a rising global hub for high-end tourism experiences.
