AfricaPress-Tanzania: YOUNG Africans Head Coach Luc Eymael said he was not happy with the goalless draw against Azam FC saying his target was to win the match and resume second slot on the table.
The two teams shared a point after a sweaty 90 minutes of play in top flight league match staged at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Sunday.
Following the draw, both Azam and Yanga maintained their second and third slots respectively as the former hauling 58 points against 56 points garnered by the latter.
In this view, another exciting part of the league, excluding that of fighting against relegation, will be which team deserves to finish a runner up, despite the fact Tanzania won’t have a four-team ticket for Confederation level tournaments.
However, at a post-match briefing, Eymael insisted that he wanted to win the game to leapfrog Azam on the second place of the log.
“I am not happy because I wanted to defeat Azam to climb on the second place of the table but we have failed to achieve that,” he said.
Moreover, Eymael said to do well in such games, all players in his team should have equal determination to win but disclosed that some of his charges lacked the spirit of determination.
Again, the Belgian trainer was saddened with the usual problem of his squad of failing to score goals from the chances they create.
“During training sessions, we do practice a lot on how to score goals from crosses but today (Sunday), all the played crosses were easily cleared by Azam. I do not know what else to do,” he said.
On his part, Azam FC Head Coach Aristica Cioaba showered praises on his side saying they played very well and deserved to win.
“My players applied everything we have been doing during training sessions on the pitch and I was happy with that approach.
“Our mission is to continue working hard in our remaining fixtures so as to get maximum three points to cement our second place accommodation on the 20-team table,” he said.
He however gave kudos to Yanga saying they are not a small team but rather a strong side with quality players who always fight hard in all league seasons.
His goalkeeper Benedict Haule who had a great game on the day lauded the team’s management for trusting him to be on the guarding territory throughout the tense encounter.
Up next, Azam have two away matches against Kagera Sugar and Biashara United before facing Simba in the quarterfinals of the Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC).
