AfricaPress-Tanzania: YOUNG Africans Assistant Coach Juma Mwambusi said time will come when they will be able to win games by big goal margin of eight to ten goals as they still sharpen the team.
Yanga stamped a slim 1-0 win over Mtibwa Sugar 1-0 at Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro on Sunday to pocket maximum three points from a tough territory where they have been deprived league victories for a long time.
Again, it was the pattern of Angolan import midfielder Carlos Fernandes ‘Carlinhos’ whose corner kick landed on the right foot of defender Lamine Moro who easily sliced the ball into the net to bring joy to the Jangwani Street based club.
However, at a post-match briefing when Mwambusi was queried as to why his side keeps posting victories by a small margin in their three consecutive matches, he replied that the most important thing is one goal and three points.
“As you know, we had no preseason to solve some of the problems which are emerging as the league unfolds, but what I can assure you is that time will come when we will stamp big win margins like eight to ten goals,” he said.
Again, Mwambusi disclosed that they have been with the team for almost 20 days a period he said is not enough to establish the remarkable chemistry since many players are new hence they are slowly rebuilding the squad.
“In every match, we do identify shortfalls of which we work on during training sessions that is why we are able to create many scoring chances but we use few of them and it is something we are working at,” Mwambusi said.
He also defended their approach to start Carlinhos on flanks and not at his usual midfield position saying it was a deliberately game plan for them.
“We knew that if we had used him at his usual position, then he could have been tackled a lot that is why we opted to play him on flanks where he did well,” he said.
Furthermore, Mwambusi who reunited with his former employer this season, disclosed that they were happy to end Mtibwa Sugar dominance on them for a long period at their Jamhuri Stadium arena which has since been suspended by the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB) club licensing committee.
On his part, Mtibwa Sugar trainer Zuberi Katwila conceded the defeat saying it is part of the game and they will work on the mistakes they made to excel in their up next matches.
It was his first loss of the season from the four games they have played and they produced a respectable performance during their 1-1 draw against defending champions Simba.
Yanga will now host Coastal Union and Polisi Tanzania before welcoming their traditional rivals Simba in the season’s big match set on September 18th at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam.
