Africa-Press – Uganda. The Bishop of Mityana Diocese, the Rev James Bukomeko Ssalongo, has prayed for the Ssaza Ssingo football team, asking God to grant them victory in the upcoming Buganda Masaza Cup final scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Hams Stadium in Kampala.

Speaking during a send-off ceremony for the team, Bishop Bukomeko urged the players to use their God-given talents responsibly and to approach the match with discipline and determination.

“You have been blessed with talent — use it wisely to represent Ssingo with pride and to bring home victory,” he said, before offering a special prayer for the team’s success and safety during the tournament.

The bishop also donated Shs1 million to support the team’s final preparations ahead of the championship match. He encouraged players to uphold teamwork and sportsmanship, noting that such values embody the spirit of Buganda.

Ssaza Chief Deo Kagimu rallied supporters to fill Hams Stadium in large numbers as Ssingo faces Buwekula in what promises to be a thrilling final.

“Let us show our unity and love for Ssingo. Come in big numbers and support our boys — your energy gives them strength,” Kagimu said.

Team coach Ssemuyaba Basito expressed confidence in his squad’s readiness, saying they have trained intensively and are determined to secure the trophy for the third time.

“The team is well-prepared both mentally and physically. We’ve worked on our weaknesses, and our goal is to lift the cup again,” he told reporters.

The Ssingo team is expected to travel to Kampala today for final training sessions as excitement builds across Buganda Kingdom for one of the most anticipated fixtures in the local football calendar.
