Africa-Press – Uganda. A 33-year-old man has pleaded guilty to charges of defacing five campaign posters belonging to President Yoweri Museveni in Busia District.
Mustafar Manirabuka appeared before Busia Chief Magistrate Thomas Okoth, facing charges under Section 80(2) of the Presidential Elections Act, which criminalizes the destruction or defacement of campaign materials.
Prosecution told the court that on September 22, 2025, Manirabuka used a knife to damage the posters displayed in various parts of the district.
During the hearing, Manirabuka admitted to the offense, explaining that his actions were driven by frustration. He told the court that he had spent years supporting and campaigning for President Museveni without receiving any form of recognition or reward for his efforts.
The court has yet to pronounce sentence in the matter.
