Double Q Launches Sinotruk Howo Box Body Trucks

Africa-Press – Uganda. Double Q, the official distributor of Sinotruk vehicles in Uganda, has unveiled a comprehensive range of Howo box body truck solutions designed to address the country’s growing cargo transportation needs.

The launch, held during a colorful event in Jinja, introduced trucks ranging from 4 tons to 28 tons under a campaign dubbed “Move More, Earn More.”

The new lineup aims to support businesses across different scales—from small enterprises handling light deliveries to large operators engaged in heavy-duty and cross-border logistics.

Speaking at the event, Kobe Xiao, Accounts Manager at Double Q, emphasized that the newly designed Sinotruk trucks are built with durability, cost-efficiency, and performance in mind. He noted that the trucks offer improved fuel consumption, simplified maintenance, and enhanced reliability, enabling clients to reduce operational costs and increase profitability.

Richard Musani, Head of Marketing at Double Q, described the launch as more than just a product unveiling.

“Today, we are not just introducing trucks; we are unveiling a promise we have consistently delivered over time. Through the ‘Move More, Earn More’ campaign, we aim to empower businesses that drive this nation forward,” Musani said.

He explained that the new range has been engineered to tackle a wide spectrum of cargo challenges in Uganda’s logistics sector.

Among the models showcased was the Howo M2 4-ton 4×2, designed for agile city deliveries and last-mile distribution. For regional transport, the 10-ton Howo M7 4×2 was highlighted as ideal for moving goods between cities such as Kampala, Mbarara, Kabale, and Jinja.

The lineup also includes a 15-ton 4×2 model for medium-duty operations, a 20-ton 6×2 suited for bulk cargo, and a 25-ton 6×4 designed for heavy-duty haulage. At the top end is the 28-ton 10×4, equipped with an additional lifting axle to maximize payload while minimizing road wear—making it particularly suitable for long-distance and cross-border transport routes such as Mombasa to Kampala or Dar es Salaam to Kampala.

Musani noted that Double Q is positioning itself as a full-spectrum solutions provider, offering trucks tailored to businesses at every stage of growth.

“We are saying that wherever you are in your business journey—whether you’re just starting out with light cargo or scaling up to heavy logistics—we will be your strongest partner,” he said.

The company also revealed its capacity to deliver customized and specialized truck solutions through its state-of-the-art local assembly facility. Musani encouraged stakeholders in sectors such as sugarcane farming and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) distribution to take advantage of these tailored offerings.

“We can design trucks specifically to meet unique business needs, whether for agricultural transport or large-scale distribution,” he added.

To address the challenge of acquiring heavy equipment, Double Q announced flexible in-house financing options, known as IHF, alongside partnerships with commercial banks. The company has signed memoranda of understanding with several financial institutions to ease access to credit for customers.

“We understand that acquiring such equipment can be a major investment. That’s why we are offering financial solutions and working closely with banks to make ownership more accessible,” Musani explained.

The Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) of Jinja, Robert Tukamuhebwa, welcomed the initiative and urged investors, particularly in the sugarcane sector, to adopt the new trucks.

He expressed concern over the continued use of aging vehicles, some over 35 years old, which he said contribute to frequent road accidents due to mechanical failures.

“Modernizing transport equipment is critical for safety on our roads. These new trucks present a reliable alternative that can help reduce accidents and improve efficiency,” Tukamuhebwa said.

The launch reinforces Double Q’s commitment to strengthening Uganda’s logistics and transport sector by providing modern, efficient, and adaptable truck solutions tailored to the country’s economic needs.
