Africa-Press – Uganda. Hoima City stadium construction progress is at 92% the entire project, with the project expected to be complete within the next month of December and thereafter testing of the facilities among them is the main stadium with capacity of 20,000 seaters, an indoor arena 2000, swimming pool, training facilities among others.

The 129 million dollar project is going to be part of the facilities that Uganda will use to co host the 2027 Africa cup of Nations together with Kenya and Tanzania.

A visit to Kyarwiru three kilometers away from Hoima on the Hoima Masindi road where Hoima City stadium is located, at night you are welcomed by heavy lights, with the entire stadium lighting while many are seen stopping to view the 129 million dollar Hoima stadium project.

The project whose construction started in September 2024 is currently at 92% with the project said to be complete by October 2025 a head of the stipulated time of 31 December 2025.

While touring the stadium late last night with the Hoima City mayor Brian Kaboyo, while inside you can hardly believe it’s night time with the entire project fully lightened.

The VIP and VVIP lounges have furniture installed, while the dressing rooms, conference rooms there works are steadily moving well.

Kaboyo says, the project has put Hoima so high in terms of development.

Kaboyo continues to appeal to investors to invest in Hoima saying while they need 20,000 hotel rooms, they have 3000, and he confirms that the president committed to supporting investors in the sector.

Currently, the main stadium is almost complete, remaining to be marked, fishing of dressing rooms, conference rooms, VIP, VVIP and a few amenities while the training facility, indoor arena, gym, swimming pool are all work in progress.

While many had many suggestions for naming of Hoima stadium, some suggesting Kabalega stadium the Great king of Bunyoro, named after Dr James Rujumba the first VET doctor in Uganda whose family donated ten acres out of the 34 acres of land that house the stadium, the stadium has been named Hoima City stadium settling the dust about its naming.
