Makerere Students Rally for 2025-2026 Huawei ICT

Africa-Press – Uganda. Makerere University’s College of Computing and Information Sciences, in collaboration with Huawei Technologies, has launched the prestigious Huawei ICT Competition 2025/2026, aiming to attract talented students across technology and engineering disciplines and introduce them to opportunities that could shape their professional futures.

A team of certified experts and instructors from Huawei delivered a comprehensive presentation detailing the competition’s structure, themes, rules, and benefits.

Participants can compete in one of four tracks—Cloud, Computing, Network, and Innovation—each emphasizing ingenuity and practical innovation of new ideas.

The Huawei ICT competition roadshows are designed to maximize outreach and talent identification across higher learning institutions in Uganda.

They provide a direct, interactive platform to communicate the competition’s structure and highlight benefits such as fully sponsored training, globally recognized certifications, success stories, internships, and job opportunities.

“This competition aligns directly with Uganda’s goal of bridging the digital skills gap between academic theory and industry demands,” said Fauzia Mukyala, Public Relations Officer at Huawei Technologies.

“Through certification and career-focused training, students gain unique international networking opportunities and the exposure needed to address real-world challenges.”

Mukyala added that Huawei is committed to nurturing local talent.

“Huawei sees local content development as an investment in the next generation of African leaders,” Mukyala said.

“Over the years, we have worked with Makerere University to consistently produce exceptional talent, leveraging Huawei technologies to innovate for a better Uganda. We look forward to fully supporting students as they prepare for national and regional engagements.”

The Huawei ICT Competition offers a platform for students to showcase their creativity, develop practical solutions, and position themselves for global recognition in the technology sector.
