Africa-Press – Uganda. The NRM Vice Chairperson for Central region, Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi, has urged the youth to

prioritize the party’s core values and principles if they are to achieve prosperity.

He highlighted that the four principles which include patriotism, Pan- Africanism, socio-economic transformation and democracy are crucial in promoting prosperity among Ugandans.

Kiwanda made the remarks on Sunday while delivering a keynote lecture to the youth undergoing a 12-day ideological training course at the National Leadership Institute (NALI) in Kyankwanzi district.

The retreat attracted 200 youth from Kampala, Kassanda, Mubende and Mityana.

Kiwanda noted that such values can only be fully achieved through promoting the ideology of interest against identity.

“It is important for the youth to be oriented on our culture as a party, they need to understand the effort of President Museveni in the economic growth and development of Uganda,”he said.

“Our politics is not for identity but for interest. It’s the ideology that unites people from ethnic backgrounds, different religions, people from all the different walks of life.”

The former Minister of State for Tourism also stated that the people who focus on tribalism and religion are the enemies of Uganda’s progress.

“We must therefore unite, work and prosper together as Ugandans, East Africans and Africans at large.”

Using himself as an example, Kiwanda urged the youth to leverage government programs like the Parish Development Model (PDM) and Emyooga as catalysts to wealth creation, rather than relying solely on

handouts, to address their family challenges.

“While I was at the University, the government offered the youth sh450,000 and I used it to start up a school at a young age and my life changed up to today. I therefore urge you that the money offered to

different groups by the government is a seed which must be planted not for consumption,” he added.

He applauded the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps under the Office of the President for engaging the youth who are very crucial in fostering national development.

“I want to thank the Patriotism Secretariat and Commissioner Hellen Seku for organising such a wonderful retreat because most of our people were taken from NRM through lies but I’m happy they are back on board and this is what we should do in every sub-county, village so that we again unite our people together,” Kiwanda noted.

On his part, the Mubende Assistant Resident District Commissioner, Andrew Solomon Musindi, stated that the training aims to guide the youth towards the right direction.

He noted that many youths have been misled by other political parties, not out of interest, but due to ignorance. However, he believes this retreat will bring hope and reality, empowering them to become great agents of change.

The retreat will officially close on June 18, 2025, where President Museveni will be the chief guest.
