Africa-Press – Uganda. Bukomansimbi District Chairperson Fred Nyenje Kayiira has called on residents to re-elect him in 2026, saying his first term in office has delivered visible progress in infrastructure, education, and health.
Speaking shortly after his nomination at the district Electoral Commission offices, Nyenje expressed confidence that the people of Bukomansimbi would renew his mandate, citing what he described as a “record of action.”
“My first term has been successful. Whatever the people of Bukomansimbi needed to uplift their lives, we have addressed. The roads are there, clean water projects are working, and health centres have new buildings. Those who claim otherwise simply refuse to see reality,” he said.
Nyenje dismissed critics who accuse him of underperformance, insisting that his leadership has met key service delivery demands.
“When you ask those who say I’ve done nothing, they cannot even point to what I have failed to do. The evidence is clear for everyone to see,”he added.
While acknowledging that some residents have raised concerns about not seeing him frequently in their communities, Nyenje said his focus has been on ensuring projects are implemented rather than engaging in populist appearances.
The NUP chairperson promised that if given a second term, Bukomansimbi residents should expect even greater achievements, particularly in improving schools and supporting youth programs.
“We have already laid the foundation. The next term will be about building on this progress. The people of Bukomansimbi should expect even better things,”he said.
Nyenje, who defeated NRM’s Julius Bulegeya in the 2021 elections, also warned his rivals in the forthcoming race not to underestimate him.
“Those who are standing against me are simply wasting time. I defeated them before, and the people will choose me again,” he declared.
With the race now officially between Nyenje (NUP) and Julius Bulegeya (NRM), Bukomansimbi is set for another high-stakes contest in 2026, as both men seek to convince voters that they can deliver better services for the district.
