Government has laid out a multi-phased plan that will see the Bulawayo – Tsholotsho Road, being rehabilitated in the next two years.
Officially commissioning a 2,4 km newly reconstructed stretch along the route this Monday, Matabeleland North Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Richard Moyo emphasised the importance of infrastructure development.
The Minister also noted that the development project is a fulfilment of one of the promises made by the ruling Zanu PF party before the 2018 elections.
The road is one of the key economic routes in the province servicing the farming community all the way to Tsholotsho.
“We have planned to do our roads in 20 km phases so in 2 years we should be up to Nyamandlovu and that’s our vision to have that road up to Tsholotsho,” said Mat North Provincial Roads Engineer Stephen Kamutema.
The government has embarked on infrastructure development projects including road construction to drive economic activity for the attainment of an upper middle-income economy by 2030.
