Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Economic Empowerment Group (EEG) president, Mike Chimombe, reportedly forked out US$2 000 to buy a CD of musician Andy Muridzo’s latest album titled “Zunza”.
The album was launched at Bar Rouge last Friday where Chimombe was the guest of honour at the event.
Chimombe encouraged Muridzo to maintain high standards and also urged musicians to diversify and find other avenues of generating money.
Muridzo, whose real name Kudzai Andrew Ngwenya, said he was humbled by Chimombe’s love for his band and music. He said:
I’m humbled by the gesture which shows that he is indeed a brother and loving man.
I first met him in 2017 and from there he has been buying music.
He is one person who has been supporting me privately.
When we invited him, we were shocked by his humility since he said he was available.
People of Chimombe’s calibre are hard to come by judging by their demanding schedules.
It was an honour having him around as he supported us on my special day.
Muridzo’s manager, Ronald “General” Mujuru, thanked fans for their support and pledged that the band will ensure that it will continue to meet their varied tastes. He said:
We tried our best to make sure that we give our fans variety so that they get to enjoy themselves.
As we promised, we fused a number of genres, including gospel, jiti, rhumba and museve in this album.
The album comes with 12 tracks, plus a bonus one. Some of the trending tracks are “Neni”, “Shoko Remufi”, “Place Out There”, “Chatamba Chana”, “Hwahwa”, “Nyakasikana” and “Mwana Uyu”.
