Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. SUNDAY May 5 was cold enough for one to wear the heaviest jacket at their disposal.

Temperatures have gone down in the past days since the winter season settled in.

And for Alexio Kawara, dressed in a golf T-shirt and a stretching jean at the Gava Restaurant in Harare, it was time to throw away heavy clothing and warm up the day, performing songs from his hit soul fusion music albums, namely Usazondisiya, Rwiyo Rwangu, Pfimbi Yangu, Kana, Tose and Oyi.

In fact, he will be staging a similar show at the Zimbabwe German Society alongside old and new friends tomorrow.

“I have six music albums to my credit, which include Usazondisiya, Rwiyo Rwangu, Pfimbi Yangu, Kana, Tose and Oyi with the hope for a seventh one early next year,” he said.

“On May 30, we are looking forward to officiate a reunion with our old and new friends at the German Society in Zimbabwe through the Reboot Show.

“We are looking forward to sharing our growth in love and kindness which we have acquired through our families and work-life itself.”

Kawara said despite their fan base waning as a result of the COVID-19-induced lockdowns, they managed to keep their band intact and have remained strategic in terms of music business.

“We would like to revisit our good old days. May 30 marks Alexio’s return and we would like to invite you all for a music fiesta entitled the Reboot Show,” he said.

Kawara is now a prolific NyungaNyunga mbira player and a pastor and accordingly, it has added his grip on the talented Shades of Black, which comprises Welly Mutepairi (lead), Cornelius Muponda (keys), Edwin Mutambira (bass), Lesslie Gurumani (drums), Deborah Nzombe (vocals) and Roy Zuka (manager).

Zuka confirmed that the Reboot Show will be one of their top-notch acts as they want to show that despite the challenges they have faced in the past half decade, they remain the people’s favourite.

“We are in a warm rebooting and the Reboot Show shall be full of energy and musical richness by Alexio Kawara and the Shades of Black at the German Society in Zimbabwe on May 30,” the manager said.

“The Shades of Black is among the finest Afro-fusion performers in Zimbabwe and we would like to reach out to our fans through musical shows in and around Zimbabwe or even abroad.”

Session musicians and producers Mono Mukundu, Colle Rusike, Green Manatsa, Josh Meck, Sebede enjoyed watching the Shades of Black performing.

WestProp public relations manager Michael Chideme and his wife, Penelope, who were in the audience, expressed joy, adding that they would attend Kawara’s future acts.
