Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. SIMBARASHE Gwawawa, the Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe Pageant director, who specialises in modelling coaching and mentorship programmes across Zimbabwe, aims to create a united voice to promote the beauty, culture and values of Zimbabwean women through pageantry and the fashion industry.

Gwawawa is upbeat about developing the modelling industry and has announced that Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe is going to host workshops and fashion challenge competitions before its annual main event, which will take place from October 26 to November 1 in Bulawayo.

“These workshops and fashion challenge competitions are funded by Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe in partnership with the private sector, civil society organisations, individuals and fashion industry experts,” he said.

“This shall provide opportunities for local models to exhibit local fashion designs and brands and network including idea-sharing among models, fashion designers and business partners.”

Gwawawa said the event would empower women in the pageantry and fashion industry through the provision of a platform to showcase their talents, confidence and personalities.

He is also into coaching, where his programmes promote cultural heritage by highlighting Zimbabwe’s rich cultural diversity and traditions through pageantry themes, attire and performances.

“Support for charitable causes is one of my key aspects in the fulfilment of my vision and fostering national pride by celebrating the beauty and achievements of Zimbabwean women in the pageantry world, both locally and internationally,” Gwawawa said.

“Modelling etiquette and grooming coaching covers various aspects to help models develop their skills and gain confidence, and making them understand the importance of punctuality, respect and communication.

“Lessons also include being coached how to walk, pose and move confidently on the catwalk or in front of the camera.”

He said a well-trained model was capable of engaging clients, designers and other industry professionals, and was capable of building high-end networks, which result in relationships and connections within the industry.

“Learning how to maintain a healthy skin and hair for photoshoots and runway shows, including make-up and beauty techniques, are the hallmark of a good model.

“Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe 2025 National Fabric Giveaway programme has been launched with the aim of supporting the local fashion industry through networking and idea-sharing, which has so far yielded a lot of support from the government and the corporate sector,” Gwawawa said.

“Our local models at Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe are receiving further capacitation and training in areas such as driving, hotel and catering, cosmology, hairdressing and dressmaking, among others.

“These trainings are done across Zimbabwe as a way of supporting Vision 2030 through models participation. Every model in Zimbabwe is welcome.”

At the core of the initiative is Gwawawa’s commitment to empowering women.

The pageant not only showcases talent and personality but also promotes Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage through themed attire and performances.

He emphasised the importance of social responsibility:

“Support for charitable causes is a key aspect of our vision,” Gwawawa said.

“We aim to foster national pride by celebrating the achievements and beauty of Zimbabwean women both locally and globally.”

As part of the pageant’s broader empowerment agenda, the Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe 2025 National Fabric Giveaway programme has been launched to support the local fashion industry.

The initiative has gained significant backing from both government and corporate sector.

Multi-award-winner Sibonginkosi Siqhoza Muteyiwa sponsored a unique fabulous Zimbabwean made outfit for the reigning Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe Culture Queen and also the reigning Miss Elite Global Zimbabwe, Christine Ngoshi, who represented Zimbabwe at the Miss Elite Global 2025 competitions held in Goa, India, from May 7 to 12.

Kudzayi Bonzo, a fashion designer, has partnered the Miss Fabulous Zimbabwe 2025 Giveaway Campaign as a way to promote the fashion industry in Zimbabwe.

She has played an immense role in grooming and capacitation of fashion creatives in the areas of fashion design, pattern making, garment construction, quality control, branding and marketing of Zimbabwe’s national fabric.
