Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Police in Kezi, Matabeleland South Province, have launched a manhunt for a machete-wielding gang that fatally attacked a man who had stopped to assist a stranded couple with a broken-down vehicle.

The brutal incident occurred on Monday night at Mafuyana township in Maphisa.

According to reports, the victim, Chelesani Moyo, came across Tinashe Ngwenya and Nomagugu Ncube, who were struggling to start their vehicle near Mafuyana shops. Moyo offered to help push the car.While Moyo was assisting, three unidentified men reportedly emerged from the darkness and struck him on the head with a machete.

He attempted to flee but collapsed after running about 100 metres. When the couple tried to intervene, they were also attacked by the assailants.

Moyo’s lifeless body was discovered the next morning. Police have since intensified efforts to track down and arrest the suspects.

Matabeleland South police spokesperson, Inspector Chiratidzo Dube, confirmed the incident and said investigations are ongoing.
