Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. NORTON-BASED MWOS FC are celebrating a crucial victory after the team defeated Chicken Inn on Saturday, ending their longest winless streak of the season.

The win was the team’s first in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League since their July 5 match against Bikita Minerals.

In his post-match interview, MWOS head coach Lloyd Mutasa described the difficult path to victory, noting the challenge of facing a more experienced coach in Chicken Inn’s Joey Antipas.

“It was a bad spell, and we knew it was going to end, but we never got it easy playing Chicken Inn,” Mutasa said.

“Joey Antipas is a very experienced coach, a national team coach as well and my elder.”

Mutasa emphasised the importance of converting their chances, which he believes was a key factor in the team’s success.

“We knew it was going to be tough, but we’re happy that at least we managed to convert the chances that came our way,” he added.

For new recruit Abubakar Moffat, the win was especially significant.

The midfielder, who joined MWOS FC in July after a long stint in Spain, was thrilled to secure his first three points with the team.

“I am so happy; this is my first league win with MWOS,” Moffat said.

He credited the victory to a combination of the coach’s instructions and his own skills.

“The coach told me a few instructions on how to command in the midfield and how to move,” Moffat said.

“So I was following his instructions, and I was adding my own experience too.”

The victory has reignited hope for MWOS, who are now sitting fourth on the table, eight points behind log-leaders Simba Bhora.

After a seven-match slump, the team’s title hopes have been awakened by last weekend’s much-needed win.
