Zim set for major African trade fair in Algeria

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. ZIMBABWE will send a business delegation to the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025) in Algiers, Algeria, this week to pursue export deals and investment.

The event, running from September 4 to 10, is projected to generate over US$44 billion in deals.

It is expected to draw over 35 000 visitors and 2 000 exhibitors from 140 countries.

Zimbabwean companies from sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, leather, fast-moving consumer goods, services and artisans will attend.

The participation, facilitated by ZimTrade and the Foreign Affairs ministry, includes a dedicated Zimbabwe-Algeria Business Forum.

This follows a State visit by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to Algeria in July and aims to strengthen bilateral trade ties.

ZimTrade chief executive officer Allan Majuru said the fair offers a “rare opportunity for collaboration, innovation and expansion into new markets” for local businesses.

“The Intra-African Trade Fair is a platform where all African countries come together to share ideas and address challenges related to integration in trade across the continent,” he said in a statement.

Majuru believes that to succeed in regional markets, Zimbabwean companies shousld understand their strengths and align their offerings with market demands.

He emphasised Zimbabwean companies should use the event to gather market intelligence and scale up operations across the continent.

“The breadth of representation showcases Zimbabwe’s ability to compete across multiple sectors and its ambition to expand its presence in regional and international markets,” ZimTrade said.

“Participation at IATF 2025 is a strategic move for Zimbabwe. It provides an opportunity to strengthen its export base, attract investment, and promote tourism under the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

“The fair allows Zimbabwean companies to interact directly with buyers and investors, secure orders, establish partnerships, and learn about emerging market trends.”

Beyond tangible deals, ZimTrade noted the event offers a platform for knowledge sharing and policy dialogue.

It also serves as a vehicle for promoting Zimbabwe as a tourism destination, with the arts and crafts component creating an immediate cultural connection for international visitors.

The Zimbabwe Pavilion aims to present a consistent narrative of quality, reliability and innovation, positioning the country as a cohesive and competitive trade partner ready to contribute meaningfully to continental and global value chains.
