Police Seize US$30,000 Dagga and Broncleer

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in two separate drug-related operations as police intensify efforts to curb cross-border crime and drug trafficking.

In a statement, the ZRP said in the first incident, police officers arrested Runesu Emmanuel (37) and Tinashe Chivende (27) on 28 June 2025 for unlawful dealing in dangerous drugs.

Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a Toyota Wish vehicle (registration number AEQ 3565) at a security checkpoint along the Mazunga-Muranda dust road.A thorough search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 307.568 kilograms of dagga, with an estimated street value of US$30,756.80. The suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.

In a separate operation, detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Drugs and Narcotics Unit arrested Tarusarira Tauya (35) for possession of unregistered medicines.

On 28 June, police intercepted a Rimbi Bus Tours vehicle at the Beitbridge Border Post as part of an ongoing anti-smuggling operation.

A search of the bus led to the discovery of 742 bottles of Broncleer cough syrup, each containing 100ml, stashed for delivery to an intended recipient in Harare.

The illegal consignment, valued at approximately US$3,700, was tracked to a garage along Simon Mazorodze Road in Harare, where CID detectives arrested Tauya after he had received the goods and loaded them into a silver Toyota Wish (registration number AFY 3876).
