Six Kadoma Mine Flood Victims Identified

Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. Six miners tragically lost their lives on 19 November 2025 when an underground shaft at Golden Reef Mine in Etina, Eiffel Flats, Kadoma, suddenly flooded, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed.

The victims, all identified by their next of kin, are: Jacob Maposa (plot 31, Umbark, Kadoma), Colleen Sibanda (plot 31, Umbark), Nevers Makarichi (plot 21, Umbark), Simbarashe Bangira (plot 42, Umbark), Danai Mashoko (plot 42, Umbark), and Givemore Chiredzi (Maratonga Village, Kadoma).

In a statement on the ZRP spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, urged miners to strictly follow the country’s mining safety regulations to prevent such tragedies.

He stressed that miners should avoid entering shafts known to be prone to flooding, particularly during and after rainfall.
