Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP)’s Sub-Aqua Unit at Fairbridge rescued two women who had been stranded for four days in Sun-Yat-Sen, Matobo District, Matabeleland South Province.
According to a ZRP statement, the women, aged 48 and 23, were trapped at the confluence of the Shashe and Simukwe Rivers on 21 December 2025 and were rescued on Christmas Day. Police said:
“On 25/12/25, ZRP Fairbridge Sub-Aqua Unit rescued two women, aged 48 and 23, who had been marooned at the confluence of the Shashe and Simukwe Rivers in Sun-Yat-Sen. The victims had been trapped since 21/12/25.”
Meanwhile, heavy rains have battered parts of the country, with rivers, particularly in Matabeleland South Province, overflowing and cutting off communities as the swollen waterways have become impassable.
