THE ZANU PF Women’s League has commended government under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa regarding the Global Compensation Deed which seeks to bring finality to the land reform programme.

In a statement, ZANU PF National Secretary for Women Affairs Senator Mable Chinomona said the decision by government is in line with the supreme law of the land as well as the cardinal ethos of the revolutionary party.

“The ZANU PF Women’s League joins all progressive Zimbabweans in applauding and commending His Excellency the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe and First Secretary of Zanu PF, Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa for his visionary and wise leadership in general and in particular regarding the recently signed Global Compensation Deed with former white commercial farmers which seeks to bring finality to the land reform program in line with the supreme law of the land as well as the cardinal ethos of Zanu PF.

“The Women’s League exalts the President once more for his principled and unwavering stance on the irreversibility and irrevocability of the historic agrarian revolution,” she said.

Senator Chinomona said the land issue forms the benchmark of the Zimbabwean people’s liberation struggle which is documented since the colonial occupation.

“In terms of the foregrounding of our national question, land is the soul of our sovereignty and as a nation with a history of a bitter and protracted liberation struggle, we always cherish the attainment of one of our key goals that is, total control and ownership of the land.

“Meanwhile, amid the recent developments in the Second Republic under the stewardship of our President His Excellency Dr Mnangagwa with emphasis and focus on making Zimbabwe an upper-middle-income economy by 2030, the government has made sure that effort is exerted in reforming the nation, albeit the ongoing challenges.

“In sectoral terms, others pursue a selfish agenda, where they distort, of course, a constitutional requirement to compensate the former white commercial farmers, as guided by the post-Lancaster House Constitution, which received the overwhelming support of the rest of the citizenry in the 2013 referendum,” she said.
She encouraged farmers never to tolerate machinations of the country’s detractors.
