Africa-Press – Angola. The University Development Forum (FORDU) is holding, as of Thursday, in the city of Huambo, the 1st Provincial Colloquium on Local Authorities in Angola, with the aim of contributing to the challenges of its implementation in the country.
The two-day event is addressing the relevance and pertinence of local authorities in the country’s development and the challenges of its implementation from the point of view of the different actors involved in the process and society in general, one month after the debate promoted by the Democracyi Works Foundation (DWF).
On the occasion, FORDU’s coordinator, Ângelo Carlos Kapwatcha, made it known that certainly fits the challenges of broadening the debate and discussion of the topic, aiming at boosting information in communities, taking into account its importance in the lives of citizens.
In this way, it is felt, in an open, comprehensive and inclusive dialogue, to analyze the main solutions, in order to contribute to the successful implementation of local authorities in Angola, within the framework of State reform policies and administrative decentralization. .
Accordingly, he made it known that the conclusions and recommendations of the meeting will be presented to the Bodies of Sovereignty to be considered within the municipal process.
He also informed that FORDU will develop the process of duplicating the laws on Local Authorities in Angola, in order to distribute them to the population, to allow greater access to information about the process.
In turn, the chairman of the Bloco Democrático party, Filomeno Vieira Lopes, who addressed the theme “The Context of the elections in Angola: Politics, Governance and the rule of law and development needs”, reaffirmed the importance of municipalities in the development process of the country, for promoting participatory governance.
Partisan perspective, with the implementation of municipalities in Angola, gains from the most diverse sectors, from political, social and economic.
Filomeno Vieira Lopes defended the need to disseminate information about the autarchic process in the country, in order to raise citizens’ awareness of its importance and to participate in a conscious and responsible manner.
The 1st Provincial Colloquium on Municipalities in Angola, with the participation of representatives of political parties, civil society organisations, academics and the population in general.
In addition to the “Context of elections in Angola: Politics, Governance and the rule of law and development needs”, the participants are certainly also addressing, in three panels, themes on “The challenges of municipal elections from the perspective of the parties politicians, civil society and universities” and “The separation of powers between municipalities and traditional power”.
