Africa-Press – Angola. Six companies, of which four nationals and two foreigners, submitted proposals to the international public tender to grant the management of passenger and load terminals from the Porto de Cabinda and the Porto do Soyo river terminal, Zaire province.

The announcement was made Friday, in the city of Soyo, during the public act of opening and presentation of the proposals, following the contest launched in March this year.

According to the vice-president of the Evaluation Committee, Via Gimi João Baptista, who was speaking to the press at the end of the ceremony, at this stage was performed only the formal analysis of the documentation presented by the competing companies.

However, the official deemed to disclose the names of the participating companies, referring this information to the final phase of the process.

He also clarified that, after the contest, the results will be published and the winning firms announced, within a period that was not advanced.

The public act had as its main objectives to ensure transparency, confirm the reception of proposals within the required deadlines and formats, and reaffirm the integrity of the competition process conducted by the government of Angola.

The ceremony was chaired by the chairman of the Soyo-EP port company, Fernando Dias, and included explaining the procedures, the public opening of the sealed envelopes, the formal verification of the documentation and the official declaration of the proposals received.

The event, held in the auditorium of the Soyo-EP port company, was attended by members of the Competition Commission, representatives of competing companies, government authorities, namely the Ministry of Transport and the Zaire Provincial Government, among others.

The international public tender derives in the context of Presidential Order No. 210/23 of 29 August, which authorizes the award of concession contracts for the management, exploitation and maintenance of the two ports.

With this initiative, the Executive intends to modernize port infrastructure and streamline the cabotage sector in the north of the country.

On the other hand, the concession will allow the entry of private operators with technical and financial capacity, aligned with the government strategy to reinforce territorial and commercial integration, boost economic development and ensure greater maritime connectivity between the provinces of Cabinda, Zaire and Luanda.
