Africa-Press – Angola. The current administrator of the Angolan Debt and Securities Exchange (Bodiva) and daughter of the Angolan head of state, Cristina Lourenço, has been appointed president of Bodiva’s executive committee.

The decision regarding the composition of the new board of directors of the Angolan stock exchange was deliberated today following the departure of the previous chairman of the executive committee, Walter Pacheco, and executive director, Odair da Costa, who resigned from their positions in the management of the market management company last week, according to a statement from Bodiva.

Cristina Lourenço now temporarily assumes the role of president of the executive committee, being the longest-serving member of the body, to which she was appointed in 2020.

Cleiton Pereira de Barros and Natália Carvalho de Jesus, who until now had been directors, will temporarily serve as executive directors by co-option. The composition of Bodiva’s new board of directors will be subject to ratification/election at the general shareholders’ meeting scheduled for March 21.

The new CEO graduated in Management from the London School of Economics and Political Sciences, London (United Kingdom), in 2012, and completed a Master’s degree in Investment Management from Pace University, Lubin School of Business, New York (United States of America), in 2014, after a brief stint as director of BAI’s Investment Banking in 2012.

Back in Luanda in 2014, the young woman began her professional career at the Angolan Debt and Securities Exchange (BODIVA). Seconded to the Trading Department, where she worked as a market analyst, she was also responsible for training the first trading technicians for regulated markets. In addition, she performed market research and promotion tasks in the Market Development Department.

In 2016, she took on a new challenge at the Ministry of Finance, specifically the implementation and structuring of the Technical Unit for Monitoring Projects with External Funding (UTAP) where, as deputy director-general, her main responsibility was to assess the degree of impact and preparation of investment projects financed by external resources, as well as ensuring their good physical and financial execution.

Until her appointment to temporarily lead the executive committee, Cristina Lourenço held the position of executive director and member of the board of directors of Bodiva, being responsible for the Finance and Assets and Communication and Exchange Departments.

In addition to the ‘President’s daughter’, Cleiton Pereira de Barros and Natália Carvalho de Jesus, who until then had served as directors, were also appointed to temporarily occupy the positions of executive directors, by co-optation.

The note informs, however, that “the composition of the new Bodiva board of directors will be subject to ratification/election at the General Shareholders’ Meeting to be held on March 21, 2025”.
